The New York Times reports on dozens of phone calls by Sarah Palin, the “First Dude” Todd Palin and officials in the Governor’s office to Alaska’s public safety commissioner, Walt Monegan, about Trooper Michael G. R. Wooten.  Monegan who refused to fire Wooten was subsequently fired.

“an examination of the case, based on interviews with Mr. Monegan and several top aides, indicates that, to a far greater degree than was previously known, the governor, her husband and her administration pressed the commissioner and his staff to get Mr. Wooten off the force, though without directly ordering it.

In all, the commissioner and his aides were contacted about Mr. Wooten three dozen times over 19 months by the governor, her husband and seven administration officials, interviews and documents show.“

Nor did that interest end with Mr. Monegan, the examination shows. His successor, Chuck Kopp, recalled that in an exploratory phone call and then a job interview, Ms. Palin’s aides mentioned the governor’s concerns about Mr. Wooten. None of the 280 other troopers were discussed, Mr. Kopp said.

Immediately after Mr. Monegan’s firing, Ms. Palin said her intent was to change the department’s direction. (She declined to be interviewed for this article.) She has since offered a variety of explanations for his ouster, most recently accusing him of insubordination and opposing her fiscal reforms.

Change of direction? Insubordination?

Contrary to her attempt to build  her international relations resume by insinuating dealings with nearby Russia,  the AP reports that Palin in fact TURNED DOWN the opportunity to dialogue with Russian representatives in  Alaska:

Steve Smirnoff, the Russian Federation’s honorary consul in Anchorage, said Palin never accepted his invitation to open a dialogue with Alaska’s neighbor.

When Palin took office in December 2006, Smirnoff says, he sent her a letter suggesting “she could be instrumental in reviving relationships between Alaska and Russia, and the rest of the world.”

Smirnoff said he’d met Palin years before, when they both worked on then-Gov. Frank Murkowski’s campaign. Smirnoff had hoped for some rapport, but “I never received a response,” he said. “I don’t know if it was taken to heart or thrown in the trash basket.”

Patricia Eckert, who works in the governor’s Office of International Trade, confirmed that Palin had not held meetings with Russian officials during her term. The closest interaction she cited was when the Seattle-based Russian consul general attended a reception for the diplomatic corps that Palin hosted in Fairbanks.

Big Casino,  John McCain, gambled again,  betting what was left of his credibility, on the outcome of the Congressional bailout deal.  Although he actually had little involvement in the negotiations McCain tried to position himself as the deal’s savior, the guy who got House Republicans to vote for the bailout deal – and then they didn’t.

Big Casino McCain bet his presidential hopes and lost, just as his other big gamble – picking the Airhead Sarah Palin as his VP pick – is also turning sour.  He didn’t listen to Kenny Rogers.  He  claimed credit for the bailout deal before the dealin was done, before the  House vote on the deal.

The Bailout Plan has failed even though McCain has been taking credit for fixing it. McCain is as much of an airhead as his VP pick Sarah Palin.

Every day brings a new revelation about the stunning ignorance of Airhead Sarah Palin, the dumbest nominee for VP in modern memory.   Today the LA Times reports that Airhead Sarah once stunned a music teacher in Wasilla when she told him that:

that men and dinosaurs coexisted on an Earth created 6,000 years ago — about 65 million years after scientists say most dinosaurs became extinct — the teacher said.

Airhead Sarah then went on to explain prehistoric fossils and dinosaur tracks on the basis that:

“she had seen pictures of human footprints inside the tracks,”

Imagine someone this ignorant as President if something happens to McCain? Scary, very scary.

McCain’s erratic behavior in selecting the Alaska Airhead Sarah Palin as his running mate and his farcical campaign suspension are part of a life pattern for John McCain.   Big Casino likes to toss the dice, real dice, not just the political dice.

The NY Times, in  McCain and Team Have Many Ties to Gambling Industry ,  exposes McCain’s gambling activities and involvement with casinos and gambling industry lobbyists.    The gambling industry has contributed millions to McCain’s campaign.  Do Americans want Big Casino McCain, an erratic gambler,  answering that 3 am phone call?

Scary.

John McCain for  all his smirking during last night’s debate, and despite prompting from host Jim Lehrer, couldn’t look directly at the next President  while condescendingly, and sometimes erroneously, (Pakistan as a failed state),  insulting him.   Meanwhile Obama looked directly at McCain while confronting him on his Iraq misjudgments – WMD, easy victory, greeted as liberators etc.

First he picked a Veep nominee who is the most ignorant in American history.  Then he lies day in day out. Calls the economy fundamentally strong as it crumbled, reveresed himelf, said he was stopping campaigning while his attack ads played and he politicized and sabotaged the deal he was supposed to be saving, even as the real congressional leadership laughed at Mighty Mouse McCain.

It’s time  to face facts.  McCain is an unstable whacko.

1.  John McCain was not part of the “bailout” negotiations.

2. John McCain has admitted his lack of knowledge of the economy.

3. John McCain said the economy was fundamentally strong on Black Monday then reversed himself within hours.

4.  John McCain was losing momentum to Barack Obama who was opening a bigger lead in the polls.

5.  John McCain panics and bails out of the 1st debate to return to Washington to pretend to save the bailout deal and the economy.
